![]() ![]() To praise the show a little, I’d actually compare it a little to the Hunter Exam from Hunter x Hunter. All stakes are gone and I have difficulties investing myself in any of the characters, rather just casually observing them for fun when obviously the show intends on the former. I can’t help but feel like the show was sloppily made, resulting in poor side-characters and and lack of realism to the rest of the world. ![]() Characters often make completely unfounded decisions because “they don’t like to be bored” or “they like men more”. I feel way too much like I’m watching an anime as opposed to seeing a genuine experience of a different world. As I mentioned earlier, there is a distinct lack of world building. Seeing that this is a Crunchyroll original and looking at the responsible studio, it’s not an unfounded assumption that the creators are very new to anime as a whole, and you can see the show improve even just from episode one to three drastically. I can’t be sure as I’m not too invested in anime as an industry, but there’s a nagging feeling of inexperience in the part of the creators of the show. Especially in the scene with the princess, her assistant, and the MC, the uncomfortably imposed silly, “classic anime” style comedy layers terribly on top of the serious music and attempt to invest us in the tower. The biggest problem from this focus on tone and atmosphere comes when comedy is introduced into the show. While the mysteriousness of the show and its world does a marvelous job of keeping this suspension of disbelief, mystery is built without the world building to support it, leaving the mystery loose and occasionally unseen. While I can say this is true for the sound, boasting incredibly punctual sound effects and an immersive OST, the visuals simply fall flat, mostly in the first episode, which is arguably the most important episode considering the show’s need for you to suspend your disbelief entirely to be invested. Having such a heavy reliance on atmosphere needs visuals and animation to both be absolutely on point. ![]() We already come to a big split in the road in terms of quality. A scene relies entirely on how well its tone has been developed and whether or not it can keep you invested in that tone. Kami no Tou relies heavily on its use of a strong atmosphere. NO spoilers ahead, but definitely watch the show for yourself, it’s certainly interesting if nothing else. ![]() The show has a lot of questionable moments, but I found myself wanting more after I was done with the first three episodes. It relies heavily on its atmosphere, but lacks a lot of necessary components to keep investment high. We might also get to know why the Shinsu of the floor referred to Bam’s contract as shackles.Kami no Tou is one of the most interesting starts to a show I’ve seen in a while, the mysteriousness is enthralling despite tons of obvious flaws. I think the next episode will give us more glimpses of the characters training. We might also get more information about what Rachel’s true goals are. Endorsi, as of now, doesn’t look like she was involved in the murder. We will probably also get more insight into why the Jahad Princesses killed the real Anaak Jahad. Looks like Episode 7 of Tower of God will have a major battle between Anaak and Endorsi as Anaak doesn’t look like she’s done fighting. Kami no Tou Tower of God Episode 7 Release date and details: Rachel is shaping up to be a flawed character but that’s also what’s making her more interesting. The characterisation was also well done in the episode with Khun growing to care more about Bam and other side characters getting more spotlight. While a lot of information was revealed this episode, including facts like Jahad Princess Yuri being a Fisherman and other rules that Jahad Princesses have to follow, it didn’t feel too overwhelming. Tower of God has been consistently doing a good job of sticking to a decent pace and not making the episodes feel dragged out. See also 5 Hilarious Shojo Romance Series! ![]()
